although i think (read: hope) that i am coming around in my old age, i can honestly say that optimism ain’t my usual bag. however, if i had to choose a silver lining in the ominous storm cloud that was george w. bush’s eight years in office, one of the first things that come to mind is the pardoning of brooklyn emcee/musician, john forte. now, the name might not be terribly familiar to you at first, but i’m willing to bet that at some point or another, you’ve enjoyed this brother’s work — whether your point of reference is the pivotal role that he played in creating the classic fugees album, the score, or the two criminally slept-on solo projects he released between 1998 and 2002. either way, if you’ve been paying attention over the last few years then you already know that this cat has put in some good work.
well, great news, Hiphop lovers…john forte is back! he has a new ep entitled, styleFREE, which dropped tuesday via his website. forte describes his new project as “a collection of seven songs chronicling my experience (for better and worse).” nuff said.
